Raptors expected to lose Fred VanVleet, Gary Trent Jr in free agency

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

But is it enough? That’s where the Raptors join the fray. The franchise is deciding its direction, and many around the league believe Fred VanVleet and Gary Trent Jr. won’t return (both have player options). Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby are heading into the final years of their contracts (Anunoby has a player option for 2024-25).

Dejounte Murray available for trade?

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

The team is believed to be looking for a home for John Collins, but some whispers abound that Dejounte Murray could be had in the right deal. Murray is due $18.2 million this season but may not be open to an extension limited to a $25.4 million starting salary. Unless Atlanta can shed significant salary elsewhere, they may not be able to afford Murray at his current price, let alone on a new deal in his likely asking range above $30 million.

Gabe Vincent, Monte Morris, Payton Pritchard among point guards that interest Suns

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

While Terry Rozier has been often rumored as a Suns target, seemingly since Phoenix registered interest in the combo guard when he reached 2019 free agency, the Suns’ front office led by president and general manager James Jones has not recently pursued Rozier from Charlotte, sources said. Phoenix does hold Knicks Sixth Man of the Year finalist Immanuel Quickley in high regard, sources told Yahoo Sports, dating back to Quickley’s entry in the 2020 NBA Draft. Payton Pritchard, the former first-round pick who fell out of Boston’s rotation... Читать дальше...

Blazers interested in Deandre Ayton?

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Portland has valued Suns center Deandre Ayton in the past, sources told Yahoo Sports, but Phoenix is too asset-strapped for any realistic chance of prying Damian Lillard from Portland should the Blazers’ franchise player ultimately seek to play elsewhere this summer.

Blazers want to build around Damian Lillard, exploring trades for No. 3 pick, Anfernee Simons

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

I hate to tell ya, Dame, but Portland isn’t close to a title, and the franchise is clearly prioritizing the future if it doesn’t move the third pick in this draft. If Shaedon Sharpe isn’t dealt, Damian Lillard might as well just ask out. My league sources say that Portland’s interest in building around Lillard is genuine. The front office is exploring deals for the no. 3 pick, and it’s also open to moving Anfernee Simons.

Spurs also a candidate for Chris Paul?

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Just a few hours before Game 3, the NBA world was rocked by the news that the Phoenix Suns might move on from point guard Chris Paul this offseason; he might get waived, stretched, or traded. If the Suns do move Paul, sources around the NBA are whispering about three potential destinations: the Clippers, the Lakers, and the Spurs.

NBA exec on James Harden: It's over, his status as a max, alpha player in this league, it's over

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

“Look, in the right situation, I think [James Harden] could be an important part of a team. He could contribute to a good team,” said an Eastern Conference exec told Heavy. “But is he ready to take that role and be paid what that role is worth? From our conversations, what James is looking for is someone to pay him at a rate that he thinks that he’s worth, which he’s not. “So James is in that unfortunate circumstance that we talk about all the time. Who’s the last person to know it’s over? The player. Читать дальше...

Kyrie Irving wants to stay in Dallas

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Marc Stein: I think based on everything I’ve heard, Kyrie wants to stay in Dallas. And one motivation that that was suggested to me is that, you know, he’s tired of the narrative that he’s trying to get his, you know, force his way to the Lakers. And you know, so why not try to convince LeBron to come to the Mavs even though again, that’s just not possible. But it’s negotiation time. And he wants to you know, establish himself as having value to the Mavs both on and off the court. That was really my first reaction. Читать дальше...

Brian Windhorst on LeBron James: 'He didn’t like the way ESPN handled the fallout from The Decision'

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Brian Windhorst joined the latest episode of the Awful Announcing Podcast, which will be released in its entirety Friday, June 9. During the interview, Windhorst was asked about joining ESPN and moving to Miami after LeBron took his talents to South Beach, and whether there was animosity from the local journalists who were already on the Heat beat. “There was animosity from LeBron! He was not crazy about it. He didn’t like the way ESPN handled the fallout from The Decision. He felt like he got left alone on an island there,” Windhorst said. Читать дальше...

Pistons to consider a Cameron Johnson offer sheet in free agency?

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

James Edwards: I know that they went into the offseason with the anticipation of trying to get him. Whether or not that happens is up to Jerami. I think Portland should rebuild, but it doesn’t seem like they will. I guess there’s maybe a chance they have a change of heart and tear it down, and Portland is no longer interested. I’d be surprised if that happened. I think Detroit targets Jerami and at least throws an offer sheet at Cameron Johnson and goes after the two biggest 3-and-D wings available. Читать дальше...

Pistons interested in Jerami Grant free agency reunion?

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

James Edwards: For Detroit, arguably the biggest unrestricted name is Jerami Grant, who was a Piston a year ago. He’s got a great relationship with Troy Weaver and loves the city of Detroit. I believe they’ll have an idea if they can get him right now as we speak.

Rival NBA execs eying Isaiah Stewart as potential trade candidate

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Michael Scotto: When the Pistons acquired James Wiseman at the trade deadline, it raised the eyebrows of some rival executives around the league who don’t believe he and Isaiah Stewart can play together long-term. While Detroit has been open to the idea of the two being able to coexist, rival executives believe Stewart could become a movable trade piece with a frontcourt logjam in Detroit and the emergence of Jalen Duren. They’ve also got Marvin Bagley.

Khris Middleton had knee surgery after playoffs

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Bucks forward Khris Middleton had a surgical procedure on his right knee after Milwaukee was upset in the first round by the eventual Eastern Conference champion Miami Heat, sources told ESPN on Thursday, confirming news first reported by the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Middleton is expected to make a full recovery and resume working on the court in July, according to the Journal-Sentinel. Middleton, 31, dealt throughout the season with issues with his right knee, which he injured last season... Читать дальше...
