In some ways, it starts with Josh Hart. Hart, Donte DiVincenzo’s college teammate at Villanova, has a $13 million player option for 2023-24. He was widely expected to opt out of the deal and become a free agent. But the Knicks and Hart recently agreed to push the date to decide on the option to Thursday. Victor Wembanyama has grown a little. Or not, depending on perspective. The official height for the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft, the San Antonio Spurs said Wednesday, is 7 feet, 3-1/2 inches — and that was measured without shoes, per NBA guidelines. That’s a half-inch taller than Wembanyama said he was back in October, when he was in Las Vegas for a pair of exhibition games. So where will Portland look? While any trade will be a collaborative effort between the team and Lillard, the Blazers will, understandably, want the best possible return [for Damian Lillard]. Portland is lukewarm on Tyler Herro, sources told Sports Illustrated. He is entering the first year of a four-year, $130 million contract.

Will Deandre Ayton be in the Suns’ opening night lineup? Phoenix has discussed Ayton with several teams over the last week and reportedly nearly had a deal done with Dallas around draft night. The Suns have been seeking multiple rotation players in exchange for Ayton as Phoenix tries to flesh out a top-heavy roster built around Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. While Ayton talks have cooled in the last few days, don’t be surprised if they pick up again over the next few weeks.

Multiple teams have inquired about the possibility of Pascal Siakam being available — Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, Houston, New Orleans and Sacramento have made calls — and while few conversations have even qualified as preliminary, it’s not as if the Raptors have been opposed to listening. As has been typical, their true intentions are hard to read: “Not the easiest team to figure out,” said one league source.

One of the Warriors’ calls, I’m told, was to check with Toronto about a proposal centering on Jordan Poole for 25-year-old forward OG Anunoby. But the Raptors weren’t interested.

Brian Windhorst: I don’t think just because James Harden opts out of his player option, which I would expect him to do, it means that he’s leaving. He took a significant pay cut last year to help the Sixers build up that roster and they did, they signed P.J. Tucker, they traded for Melton. And so Harden, frankly, is in a little bit of debt based on his production. So I expect the Sixers’ offer to be considerably higher on whatever number of years it is. Jae Crowder, who turns 33 on July 6, is an unrestricted free agent. He is free to sign with any team, with the Bucks not receiving any compensation. He will undoubtedly draw interest from several teams during the free agency period, which begins July 1. But sources said Crowder is leaning heavily toward signing with the Bucks, who fired Budenholzer shortly after the season and hired Adrian Griffin as his replacement,

Evan Sidery: The “full expectation” is Kyrie Irving will re-sign with the Mavericks once free agency begins, per @wojespn: – Legitimate places Kyrie would even consider leaving Dallas for are “extremely limited, perhaps almost nil.” – Money aspect won’t be an issue for Irving’s new deal with the Mavericks. Only fully guaranteed years is the question. The max dollar amount Irving could potentially sign with Dallas is 5-years, $272.9 million.
