Trade Value Rankings 7.0: The Top 100 in the NBA

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

It’s time for another edition of our Trade Value Rankings, in which the HoopsHype staff comes together to vote on and rank players by – you guessed it – their trade value. To do so, we weigh their talent, production, previous performances, age, availability, positional scarcity, salary and what their future salary might look like.

Patrick Beverley: Players around the NBA impressed with Chet Holmgren

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Patrick Beverley: I’ve been speaking to some guys around the league and been asking about Chet Holmgren, and their response has been this: Hey Pat, he’s gonna be nice. Not because of his size, not because of his talent, but because of his attitude. … They say he’s not gonna duck s—, he ain’t scared of s—. He’s tough. That’s what’s gonna keep you in the NBA. There are a lot of guys with skills in the league but being tough … mentally tough, he’s gonna be challenged every game yeah but he likes to go back at [opponents]. Читать дальше...

Knicks, Timberwolves, Bulls, Pistons interested in Donte DiVincenzo

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

In some ways, it starts with Josh Hart. Hart, Donte DiVincenzo’s college teammate at Villanova, has a $13 million player option for 2023-24. He was widely expected to opt out of the deal and become a free agent. But the Knicks and Hart recently agreed to push the date to decide on the option to Thursday. This suggests that Hart’s decision could impact a corresponding move for New York. I assume that corresponding move involves making a run at DiVincenzo. As SNY reported, prominent members of the... Victor Wembanyama officially listed at 7-foot, 3.5-inches tall, making him second-tallest player in NBA

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Victor Wembanyama has grown a little. Or not, depending on perspective. The official height for the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft, the San Antonio Spurs said Wednesday, is 7 feet, 3-1/2 inches — and that was measured without shoes, per NBA guidelines. That’s a half-inch taller than Wembanyama said he was back in October, when he was in Las Vegas for a pair of exhibition games. (His official height then was 2.21 meters, he said, and he’s now nearly 2.23 meters.) Which makes sense, given that he was 18 then... Читать дальше...

Blazers lukewarm on Tyler Herro as part of potential Damian Lillard trade?

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

So where will Portland look? While any trade will be a collaborative effort between the team and Lillard, the Blazers will, understandably, want the best possible return [for Damian Lillard]. Portland is lukewarm on Tyler Herro, sources told Sports Illustrated. He is entering the first year of a four-year, $130 million contract.

Suns want multiple rotation players as part of trade for Deandre Ayton

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Will Deandre Ayton be in the Suns’ opening night lineup? Phoenix has discussed Ayton with several teams over the last week and reportedly nearly had a deal done with Dallas around draft night. The Suns have been seeking multiple rotation players in exchange for Ayton as Phoenix tries to flesh out a top-heavy roster built around Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. While Ayton talks have cooled in the last few days, don’t be surprised if they pick up again over the next few weeks.

Warriors believed Jordan Poole was 'extraneous' and 'inefficient' to their roster?

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

What’s clear to me after a few days of checking around is that this all began when the Warriors decided that Jordan Poole was an extraneous and inefficient member of their roster. That was the precipitating issue. The Warriors wanted out of the $123 million deal they gave Poole only eight months earlier because his play last season didn’t meet that value, especially given their extreme luxury-tax pressures. They knew he wanted a bigger role and they knew that almost certainly wouldn’t happen as... Читать дальше...

Mavericks, Kings among teams that have called Raptors about Pascal Siakam

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Multiple teams have inquired about the possibility of Pascal Siakam being available — Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, Houston, New Orleans and Sacramento have made calls — and while few conversations have even qualified as preliminary, it’s not as if the Raptors have been opposed to listening. As has been typical, their true intentions are hard to read: “Not the easiest team to figure out,” said one league source.

Indications remain that James Harden will remain in Philadelphia

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Brian Windhorst: I don’t think just because James Harden opts out of his player option, which I would expect him to do, it means that he’s leaving. He took a significant pay cut last year to help the Sixers build up that roster and they did, they signed P.J. Tucker, they traded for Melton. And so Harden, frankly, is in a little bit of debt based on his production. So I expect the Sixers’ offer to be considerably higher on whatever number of years it is. The indications are that Harden is going to remain in Philadelphia. Читать дальше...

Bucks likely to bring back Jae Crowder

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Jae Crowder, who turns 33 on July 6, is an unrestricted free agent. He is free to sign with any team, with the Bucks not receiving any compensation. He will undoubtedly draw interest from several teams during the free agency period, which begins July 1. But sources said Crowder is leaning heavily toward signing with the Bucks, who fired Budenholzer shortly after the season and hired Adrian Griffin as his replacement,

Kyrie Irving expected to re-sign with Mavericks

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Evan Sidery: The “full expectation” is Kyrie Irving will re-sign with the Mavericks once free agency begins, per @wojespn: – Legitimate places Kyrie would even consider leaving Dallas for are “extremely limited, perhaps almost nil.” – Money aspect won’t be an issue for Irving’s new deal with the Mavericks. Only fully guaranteed years is the question. The max dollar amount Irving could potentially sign with Dallas is 5-years, $272.9 million.

Jevon Carter to decline his $2.24 million player option

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Michael Scotto: Milwaukee Bucks guard Jevon Carter will decline his $2.24 million player option for the 2023-24 season and become an unrestricted free agent, a league source told @hoopshype. Carter, a strong defender, shot 42.1 percent from 3-point range in 81 regular-season games played.

Bucks were interested in John Collins?

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

The Bucks also reportedly internally considered a trade for John Collins, who was moved this week by the Atlanta Hawks to the Utah Jazz. “A team I heard at least had some relatively serious internal discussions about ‘Should we wade into the John Collins thing?'” said Zach Lowe. “And I don’t know if they contacted Atlanta or how serious it got, was Milwaukee. And that’s interesting to me because I do think Milwaukee is looking around for, like, ‘Can we get a little just injection of randomness? Читать дальше...
