The Orlando Magic have guaranteed the contracts of guards Gary Harris and Markelle Fultz for the 2023-24 season, the Sentinel learned via league sources on Friday. Fultz is set to earn $17 million in guaranteed salary while Harris will earn $13 million.

Marc Stein: Jordan Clarkson and the Jazz are in active discussions on a three-year contract extension, league sources say. Clarkson this week picked up his $14.3 million player option for next season with Utah rather than test free agency. More of my latest here: marcstein.substack.com/p/latest-nba-free-agency-talk-what

Amid interest to return to Chicago and other contenders, Patrick Beverley has another potential suitor in Boston, sources said.

It’s worth noting here that several teams are keeping an eye on the situation in Milwaukee concerning the future of Giannis Antetokounmpo, as we’ve previously noted. Antetkounmpo is eligible for an extension with Milwaukee this summer. Financially, it makes sense for Antetokounmpo to wait on signing an extension or new contract. I don’t know if the Knicks are one of those teams keeping an eye on the Antetokounmpo situation, but I’d imagine most teams are monitoring it.

Ahead of the beginning of free agency, Houston’s brass traveled to Los Angeles to set up camp and prepare for a number of meetings that will take place over the next few days. At the outset, they will meet with with wing Dillon Brooks and center Brook Lopez, league sources say. They also hope to meet with Van Vleet and his representatives.

Barry Jackson: Per source, Heat has spoken to Cleveland and a third team about sign and trade involving Max Strus, with Strus going to Cavs in this scenario. Heat would get back small assets (not a player, in permutation discussed).

Barry Jackson: Per source, Heat has made an offer to Vincent similar to structure of Caleb Martin’s 3-year deal but for bit more money (more than $7 M per year for Gabe). It did not move the needle. Vincent’s return is looking less likely, unless Heat raises its offer. Free agency begins at 6pm

Michael Scotto: The Warriors are “optimistic” about re-signing Draymond Green, a league source told HoopsHype.

Anthony Slater: As far as an extension this summer, Thompson would have to take a pretty obvious pay cut. He’s making $43 million right now. I don’t know how low of a number we’re talking about yet. My expectation is probably something doesn’t get done because Thompson believes, and we know how confident he is in his shot-making ability, that he can go and play himself into more money this year. I’m not sure they’ll work something out, but I think the path has been cleared for them to continue their partnership beyond this season. Читать дальше...
Michael Scotto: Donte DiVincenzo won’t return to the Golden State Warriors, I’m told. He’s earned a pay raise. He may double what he could’ve gotten from Golden State. The Knicks are one of a handful of teams interested. When it comes to DiVincenzo, he’s competing in this market for similar money from mid-level exception teams with Bruce Brown and maybe Max Strus.

Anthony Slater: Do I see him on the Warriors next season? Yes. I don’t think he’s going to be traded. I don’t think he was being shopped. I think the Warriors – and as we’re seeing in the Mike Dunleavy era – are very willing to have any conversation you’re willing to have as long as you’re not asking for Stephen Curry. They were adamant when a report came out that it sounded like they were shopping him high in the draft that they weren’t shopping him. They’d answer inbound calls on him.

“LeBron is not frustrated with AD. LeBron is thankful for AD,” the person told Sportsnaut. “Does he wish that both could play and stay healthy the whole time? Of course. But it’s not like he wants a guy to go out there and get injured.”

If Strus is in play for the MLE, sources say he will be near the top of the Cavs’ wish list. But Cleveland decision-makers are getting the impression Strus will be too expensive and their offer won’t be good enough. The 27-year-old sniper would provide shooting, spacing, gravity and off-ball movement — all of which the Cavs lacked last season.

According to ESPN’s NBA guru Briand Windhorst, LeBron has now put more stock into having the opportunity to play alongside Bronny than on winning his fifth championship: “I honestly believe that LeBron cares more about playing with Bronny than he would about getting another ring,” Windhorst said.

Sources say, however, that there is strong optimism on Harden’s side that it will indeed happen. Both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are said to be on board with the idea of Harden potentially joining their core, according to sources.

The New York Knicks have emerged as favorites to sign Golden State Warriors free agent guard Donte DiVincenzo, league sources told The Chronicle on Thursday night.

According to sources directly involved in the situation on both sides, the Los Angeles native wants to play for the Clippers and the Sixers are already in the process of discussing his desired move. Harden is, according to sources close to him, extremely upset at the way in which the Sixers handled his possible free agency and has made his dissatisfaction clear to the organization.

Marc Stein: NBA matters are especially fluid this time of year — as James Harden’s opt-in in Philly just showed us — and league sources say A) Indiana is a new team to watch in the pursuit of Denver’s Bruce Brown and B) Indiana should NOT automatically be deemed Max Strus’ landing spot.
