Wakefield Trinity • Ex-Player Interviews

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

DANNY WASHBROOK

Let's start with Danny Washbrook the player. Tell us about your junior days and why you played Rugby League ?
I started playing at 7 years old. My friends from further down my street played for a team called Humbe Social Club. They were only a small club, just had 2 teams. Managed to score a try in my first game and loved it from then on. We merged with Skirlaugh at Under 12s and then at u16s I moved to Embassy and played there for 2 years.

He should never have played six at Wakey you could see from his first game he didn't look the part. But Mash persevered & it just didn't get any better

I think Willie also played him there. He must see himself as a 6 but he’s certainly more a centre. Anyway good luck to him.

Did they pull that number out of a hat? Felt like one of the worst attended games between the 2 teams in recent years.

The problem the Bulls have is that there are about 3000 season tickets sold. So that’s the baseline for any match. But it’s tricky to announce over 3000 fans when sometimes there are obviously fewer than that.

Needs to get out of this club asap as his recruitment last few years has been nothing short of abysmal and Powell just as guilty for bringing his buddies over from Cas.
Moran and Middleton need grow some and sort this club out before the season is over as clubs even down at the bottom will be rubbing their hands to play us with what’s been dished up last few months.

Didn't realise he was from the Fax area. Fingers crossed though you can keep producing, need something to eat in to that wall of debt.

Haha. I know he isn’t. Just playing on your Giants stealing all the players comment Hull KR and Giants seem to be the main two accumulating our youth players.

Mudoti, Ryan, Milnes, Storton, Wilson, Mellor, O’Brien, Roberts, Butterworth have all gone to either Giants or KR in the past 5/6 years. Читать дальше...

Will this game be played at Wimbledon?

It's a week before we were due to be back there but the pitch works will be finished by then as Wimbledon have a friendly at Cherry Red on 22 July. So possibly could be played on 23 July.

Doncaster RLFC • Catering at the Eco Power Stadium

New caterers announced at the stadium. They are said to also cater at the KC stadium, I watched two reviews from a You Tube guy on the food at the KC whilst Hull FC where playing, it looked superb and he said it was some of the best Stadium food he had sampled.

We have got a genuine star on our hands, not the biggest prop but he runs well above his weight. I've noted the Fielden comparison for a while now, once you see it you can't unsee it. Similar build and running style, dominates the collision and even carries the ball in both hands running it in like SF did!

Runs it in like Ian Roberts for mine. Doesn't seem to need to hit top speed before collision in order to gain forward momentum. His engine is astonishing! Читать дальше...

I don’t think complacency crept in but stupidity dashed in. A simple game plan would have given a comfortable win but an arrogant, reckless ‘lets put these upstarts in their place” attitude will be punished with deserved bans.

No, with you there. There are some outlandish allegations made against the club in that post however, that reflect really badly on the club. They could easily take legal action if they considered them not to be true. It's going to be interesting to see how Warrington respond, if they do at all.

The allegation that McGuire played with head knocks and was told not to report them is... Читать дальше...
