Lots have continued to talk about getting a new fb but for all someone like dufty would add pace mylers assists are right up there he's good under the high ball and safe defensively, good communicator too. Fb doesn't come for another year for me.
I see your point. For me fullback is if it’s someone of genuine quality who can do what myler can do with added run threat. If it can also be an element of succession planning in that position then great.
I for one thought Dufty would go well over here... Читать дальше...
Walters has been very good, albeit can still be a bit naive defensively. He should learn and has all the tools to go to the top.
I’m disappointed to lose him and can’t help but think if he’d have been a bit more patient he’s got the game time he wanted/needed and might have made another decision.
Having said that, we don’t know if there were other reasons like wanting to be closer to home?

Looking like Saints are signing Ritson permenantly
He has been terrible whenver i have seen him play. Ritson, Whitley and an over the top Clark. In a season where Wellens HAD to get recruitment right, he seems to be getting it wrong (to me anyway) His recruitment has shades of the Cunningham era. Players vastly inferior to the ones they already have or are preparing to lose. Tough times ahead for Saints.

Some rumours that SL is in serious talks with Dazn.
Mixed thoughts on that, anything to get SKY to up their price is welcome but its a big jump to go from a subscription TV deal weve had for over 30 years to an obscure streaming service. A lot of RL fans are old and wouldent have a clue how to watch. Also do pubs have licences to stream it?
Whatever happens we need certainty asap as I imagine its very hard for the clubs to get sponsor deals given the current uncertainty.
While sacking Powell might seem a viable and attractive option right now, what would it actually achieve in reality?
Yes, we'd probably get a 2 or 3 game new coach 'bounce', but once that novelty wears off, we'll still be left with a lot of average Joe's who are no better than many of the sides loitering around the bottom half of the table.
But these are the players he's decided he wants... Читать дальше...
Smith is in charge, and everyone knows it now. Deviate from the standards and you won’t last long.
Also think he’s got the fan base behind him. Even on the losing run he “held his nerve” (can maybe give Rishi lessons in that), and the supporters stayed united behind him. We’ve not had a coach in a long time, where nearly all the support base was behind him as much.
I would hope he gets sacked!! Rishi, not Smith, by the way. This government... Читать дальше...
I agree about Sezer. Looks like Fusitua is about to extend his contract with us. Good news if he stays injury free.
The Fusitua decision is a real gamble in my opinion, not because he's not an excellent player - he clearly is - but because his time at the club has been so blighted by injury. Can only assume that is new contract is on much favourable terms to the club, and that medical staff are satisfied that there is no underlying physical weakness.... Читать дальше...
Not really bothered if the hardcore Latics fans reckon they're top dogs re. the stadium, we only need it once every two years on GF and if we get a home cup/play-off fixture, we've worked more or less successfully around the fixture lists for twenty odd years so there should be even less of an issue now

Indeed. It's about balance. We have 2 running halves and a currently 1 dimensional 9, so having a passer like Myler at full back gives the team much more balance.

Don't know much about Goudemand, but so far Smith's signings have been pretty good.
McDonnell, Macdonald, and Lisone (now that he's fit) all look great.
Sangare is a bit more of a work in progress but he hasn't really let us down, and gives us a bit of much needed size and impact in the pack.
Olpherts obviously hasn't worked out, even if not a player who would make it into our first 17, he should have been better than he has been. Can't really comment on the lower league signings because we haven't seen enough of them yet. Читать дальше...
