Wakefield Trinity • cas redevelpment goes to plan B

I'm not overly convinced that the side screens are needed.

I wouldn't say no to having them done, but the orientation of the ground means that the bad weather (predominantly) comes directly into the stand face on - from the West.

The stand doesn't go the full length of the pitch either. I'm assuming side screens would mean those sat in the back corner wouldn't have a full view of the pitch?

Totally off topic but that Chelsea City game this evening was a joy to watch.
And how cool was Palmer to bag that pen?

Loan spell would do him good IMO. Still young definitely has something about him. But at the moment needs game time. Few issues with his play but those can be ironed out.

He's always quite measure and dignified. Doesn't slag players off and just talks quietly about the game.
Brookey who usually stands right behind him on the other hand can call a play two play the balls before it happened. Very astute guy.

Hull FC • Reach Group Newspapers and the demise of an institution

Well times might be changing for some but not enough to stop the owners and the Chief Exec's of both clubs being concerned enough to pursue the decision with the Reach group.

I like Newcasle but part of me wonders if somewhere new injects a bit of life into it. Nottingham isnt a bad shout, good city for bars and at 30k capacity a good chance it would sell out (60k is the usual weekend figure)

In the longer term Everton's new stadium worth a go too, top class 53k ground and crucially close to Liverpool centre unlike Anfield which is a trek.

Nottingham would be a good shout

Wigan Warriors • Powell

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

It looks like Leeming was the only signing made out of choice. Its not a cert that he'll be an improvement on Powell but I think it was the right decision to try and freshen things up at #9 - Leeming and O'Neill should do that over the next few years.

Keighran, Walters and Thompson are signings made out of necessity not choice. If Smithies, KPP or King had decided to stay then they likely wouldn't have been recruited. That being said, I think they were the best signings we realistically could... Читать дальше...

To put him into context, the top try scorer this year was Tom Johnstone with 27. The team that scored the most goals was Catalans, with 116.

So. you'd have to burst onto the scene at 17, be the top try scorer every year, also be the kicker, as well as in the team that scores the most goals, keep that up until you were 34, season after season, never have a long injury spell, and you'd still be 500 short.

And Fox's tries were only worth 3 points, not 4 as in the modern game. Читать дальше...

Wigan Warriors • Grand Final '24 half price tickets

If you've got an account at the RFL and bought tickets from them before they're currently half price for a week, so if you're feeling confident or go whoever's there there's a bit of a bargain to be had.
I've just had an email off them with a link to the tickets, no need to put a code in

Winning gets you points that helps get you in the 12, but doesn't get you promotion.

Warrington Wolves • NEW KIT 2024

Think the shirts are terrible and definitely not worth £52.

Don’t like the look of the training range either, and the prices are high for that as well. £33 for a T-Shirt, £38 for a polo. On Wigan’s shop for example they have T-Shirts from £15 and polos from £20.

No membership and no merchandise for me this year for the first time since 1993.

If nothing else, Rodrick will significantly raise the team's intelligence levels, given that he has got a bachelor's degree in applied physics with electronics and instrumentation, and is apparently working on a prototype of a dual axis solar tracking system that will follow the trajectory of the sun throughout a day, enabling solar panel efficiency to be increased by up to 40%. His LinkedIn profile lists one of his skills as 'root cause problem solving', so he may be just the man we need at Wire! Читать дальше...

We don`t seem to grasp that the youngsters actually want to win games, and always try their best.

It is just a job, to Drinkwater Dudson etc, most of the time last season, they couldn`t give a monkeys whether we lose.

One of my favourite ever Xmas presents was an annual subscription to the green Sports Mail paid by my mum every year and sent to me after I left the UK in1966. It lasted right up to when she died in the 90's and took about 10 days to arrive but I read it from cover to cover in both South Africa and Aus.
In my youth I played Union, League and Soccer in Hull and also for a couple of years sent a report of Union Saturday matches I played in to the HDM where it was posted in Tuesday's edition.
