Wigan Warriors • Re: World Club Challenge - Wigan v Penrith

Should be a great night (hope it is night in saying that) if it is at Wigan. They’re a special side and it will be extremely tough but you never know.

[quote="jbuzza"]5,000 was a suitable target if the club is to be more sustainable. The issue is the failure to do anything much to achieve it.
Buzza you’re forgetting the one visit to Wimbledon shopping Mall by Buck and Dusty. Rumours suggest this will be repeated and, yes AND, also a visit to KFC Tooting to hand out flyers. What more can they do?

Since we've been at Cherry Red the focus seems to have been on upselling existing fans to padded seats.

Ahh the Gold Lounge. Not enough spoken about it in my opinion. Читать дальше...

Sincerely hope that both clubs can come together and provide a solution, Dan and Joe's work are a significant aspect of following the game for both sides of the river, particularly in Dan's case who has proved to be a link between the club and its fans.

Joe Appleyard has confirmed he's lost his job. It's absolute bollox that a local paper won't be covering 2 top flight sports teams.

Hope both Dan and Joe manage to get something sorted

Wakefield Trinity • New Stand

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

Listening to Matt Ellis on Radio Leeds discussing naming rights for the East Stand, and he's keen to let supporters have a say.

It'd be easy to name it after a legendary player, but which one? I'd skip that, and instead call it the Trinity Legends Stand, and have a Legends themed corporate area...maybe along the lines of the 'long room' at Lords with boards for notable achievers and images of notable players. I went to Sunderland years ago and they had huge banners with photos of the 1973... Читать дальше...

Hull FC • Re: Pre-season.

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

Club usually churns out preseason content but so far seem to be very quiet this time round.

These next few weeks are the most important part of our season. Time for players like Tex, Brown (when he comes) and smith to get used to playing as a 6/7 in our systems.

Preseason will make a huge impact on how you perform in a position. Developing the Timing etc of a different position mid season is a different beast than running the systems 5 days a week for 3 months.

You can’t write off how Smith, tex or brown will perform. Читать дальше...

Halifax Panthers • Re: New kit manufacturer

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

Historically the shop has never been anything more than a loss leader, if anyone can do better than that then its good news for the club. Not a clue who the new supplier is but the club is at the stage where its a bit limited as to who they can use having burnt so many bridges in the past so a lot of the main suppliers are out of the question.

Wigan Warriors • Re: Dual reg with Wakey

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

See how it plays out. Happy to have an agreement in place but Daryl Powell and playing youngsters doesn’t usually go together. It feels like a club a bit lower down the championship pecking order may have been more suitable.

On a separate note, it was interesting to read a suggestion from Steve Mascord around Newcastle and Wigan. He suggested the Aussie model of Newcastle being affiliated with Wigan, like teams in the NSW and Q Cups and us then providing numerous players to them. Not sure exactly how it works but on the face of it... Читать дальше...

Although not a direct replacement, we have plenty of options with Brown (who has probably played plenty of match's at halfback), Smith and Trueman. I don't think this will be a big issue this year, playing behind our pack (on paper) should help too.

Hull FC • Re: Reach Group Newspapers-the demise of an institution

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

It’s a sad and sorry state and disappointing to hear the likes of the rugby will no longer be reported particularly in a City with 2 SL teams.
Think the decision reflects the poor management of the Reach Group in general when you look at the number of poor articles in the HDM.
Just another example like the BBC were they think you can serve local communities on a national basis.
Sad times for all.
