Enjoyed reading both reflective responses. I feel particularly disappointed with the lack of a quality hooker, I know they are not easy to find. There seems to be a big gap in recruitment between the top few teams and others.

With Byrne it’s just him finding his best more often that we need. He was probably the form prop in the league for 4-6 weeks until his injury last year, absolutely belting people and smashing the ball up and he was excellent against Penrith. That Byrne can be an England prop.
His season so far though has been almost as disrupted as Mike Coopers, so it’s hard to criticise him. It’s time for him to step up now at Saints and then Leigh. Get in to them and go hunting like that Catalans away game last year. Читать дальше...

Unless any of the posters on here have any inside knowledge I’d suggest leaving selection to the people being paid to do it.
Despite the expert insights displayed on here, there have to be solid reasons certain players are not getting picked, and those reasons do not have to be explained to anyone other than the players.

I get the feeling that A Lam will put out as strong a team as we can and if he does, I totally get why.
Fev are in turmoil right now, but this is their chance to get focused on the right stuff as a team, and turn over an old foe and the current champs. They will come, all guns blazing, have nothing to lose, and it is at their house.

Big blow the injury and length of it. I think we've struggled when Gaskell has been missing. Lilley and Johnson or Jowitt look like the cover unless we bring someone in. Looks like an approach for Tom Gilmore has been knocked back from Widnes. Personally I think we definitely need someone in, be interesting to see if Moss is fit for the Wigan Reserves game and how he goes in that.
