Warrington Wolves • Darryl Powell Interview

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

Some of the small things are telling...

Ratchford celebrating a call going our way like we'd scored a try (he is really energised this year) was an example from last week.

Wigan Warriors • Re: Leigh (a)

Both missing would probably mean 2 new wingers, with Miski on one and I guess Wardle on the other. Unless they bring somebody like Eckersley or Thornley in from outside the 21, we’ll be back to KPP or Isa at centre. Hopefully one of them will be ok (preferably Marshall).

Wakefield Trinity • Re: Rob Butler

Butler has come good this season, one of the few bright spots.

I don’t think he’ll ever be top class but he could become a very useful player that the opposition won’t like playing against.

Wakefield Trinity • Will Dagger signs to end of 2024

From an outside perspective (not that anybody asked like ), Dagger is a good signing for you guys i reckon in a position that you need.

I have always liked what i have seen of him for Hull KR, always put a good showing of himself and full of enthusiasm.

Never a good feeling to lose a promising youngster, but this seems like the better move for Wakefield short-term which with the way this season has gone so far seems like the right approach of thinking. Читать дальше...

Hull FC • Re: Shopping list for 2024

My one hope is that we sign players who will offer value throughout the whole of their contract. Too often we sign a player at or past their peak and get 1-2 good years out of them before their cap space is wasted.

Hoy & Clifford for example should be better players at the end of their contract than now. I’d rather be concerned about needing to find the cap space to keep them

More to follow that’s for sure. Shame it’s so late.

He’s been a passenger for a few seasons now, sparking into life just occasionally. When we had a much better team we could afford that but now we need players who perform week after week even if they are less spectacular.

No it’s not but it doesn’t change the dynamics. Whitbread was not a proven player and neither is Atoni. I wouldn’t call them project players but they are not off the shelf ready to go either. Both need to develop just like the English players.

Personally I’d rest McDonnell. He’s been good but he’s played a lot and I’d give him a rest and play Bentley and Tet in 2nd row to start.

I’d run Martin at centre again and rotate the props a lot plus Johnson off the bench.

Good that Smith has choices.

Was just on the verdict on SSN and Jenna Brooks asked him about the rumour of him going to Wests and he said he is here this season and next. Happy to hear him say that but then again we know what people say then do are 2 different things. rogues as posted on Redvee that Williams will be at the Tigers next year.

Yes, that's very important - and was key for me when I was looking to recruit or considering a new job offer.

Was the culture good when TS took over, or was it just that we were short on confidence?
I know he had a few run-ins early on with some players (like Rauhihi, and Briers) and he soon got his message across, but he probably was aided by having some decent... Читать дальше...

I don't understand people moaning about the starting 13.
If as mentioned we are down to minimum numbers of fit players we need some cover otherwise one injury against Sts means we have no one for Cas.

I'd play him. We need some speed.

Fairly sure that's on the list of banned substances, PT

Saints a full team pretty much to choose from. 1-10 in and 13 with some good options….

Fev usually have middles at 8,10 and 13 plus 3 on the bench ie 6 play each game. At the moment Lockwood, Kopczak, Moors, Springer, Cozza, Yei, Taylor, and Davies are all definitely ahead of him in the pecking order and he's vying for 9th/10th with Dan Fleming, so depending on injuries you could see this being extended beyond the original 2-week period.

Bearing in mind that it is an unusual fixture, and attendances are higher in the middle of summer than the start of the season (when Wigan visited), but Salford are hardly 'wiping the floor' with record attendances.

Also a double for us with Toulouse the week before so most people went there instead.

To be honest I've not seen anything in him as yet that makes me think he will go well. I don't think his physique is up to much either, always looks to be carrying too much weight.

George Delaney in the Academy/Reserves is a much better prospect. He runs really hard, he's in our 21 man squad this week and the rumours are that he will be in the 17 (he has played a couple of first team games before)

If we were to look at the NRL, I would take brooks in a heartbeat. If Croft can be a star over here, brooks should have a walk in the park. If not, I'd have a look at Brayden trindall or dean Hawkins, both back up halves at their respective clubs. Also Canterbury seem like they won't be keeping Kyle Flanagan beyond this year.

In that case your original "shoot down" post carries little merit, unless you consider 3 or 4 games dropped in ad hoc to be a representative sample.

it might be a small sample size, but if we say 4 games, a quarter of those he was good, and three quarters he was bloody terrible(see the first game with fans in v huddersfield in 2021 when kenny edwards tore him a new butt hole) i'd say that was a fairly good indicator, even on a small sample size.
