Wakefield Trinity • Stevo

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

Leigh have done a very good job this year but is it that much of a shock in hindsight?

An absolute star studded team thanks to Degsys and I could be wrong here but they've been extremely fortunate with injuries so far this year, not having to dip into the market much and obviously not running an academy. Could've been all so different if the early rounds went differently. Speculation I guess...

I see that the potential new owners of Skolars are the supposed backers of the New York RL start up that vanished as soon as they sold enough bobble hats.

Steve Scanlan at ARC https://arcsportsmanagement.com.au/our-team/ apparently played for England, but I can find no record of this. They do seem to have a few boxers on their books....well, 4 to be exact, all based in Straya, but as is often the case, seem adept at self promotion.

Fair play to Leigh on their success. But you have to wonder how sustainable it is without a youth system. When are they allowed to get one? They could end up winning the double, but aren't allowed an academy system? That has to be rectified surely? Otherwise when they come to renew contracts and sign new players, they'll never be able to afford their stars if they're not allowed to top up the squad with young players like the big clubs are allowed to.

Presumably it wasn't a frivolous appeal? I don't mind the ban for Lees, there was head contact in there.

It's them letting Matty English off with one of the worst tackles this season that is the issue. If cannonball tackles are allowed again, we're going to see a lot more players on crutches or in wheelchairs. Читать дальше...

Very pleased and I'm sure Liam will breathe some fresh air into the team with new ideas, etc.

One thing I have noticed, however, is that he says "obviously" a lot in his interview. He needs to cut that out for a start, but I suppose it's better than saying "yer know" all the time.

No doubt Gleeson didn’t really want to be here in 2005, but that anger seemed to spur him on. 2005 playing under Cullen’s attacking structure, was by far his best season at any club. He was consistently world class at a time none of our other players were even close to world class. A joy to watch, like a Sheikh’s racehorse.

However, we know where it went from there under THAT culture.

This is years later though, and he comes with big raps from the England RU players... Читать дальше...

I think every winger who played outside gleeson(Riley, hicks, fa'fili)got 20 tries in a season. Big Henry even finished as super leagues top tryscorer one season. Gleeson was a world class centre.

That’s dire. Cas will be delighted. He’s a first class bum wipe of a referee.
Smug, arrogant and the rest. Been a long while since I disliked an official as much as him.
Kiss of death. Makes it harder but we will have to overcome a major phycological disadvantage on Friday night.

Highly delighted with the appointment and was the obvious choice from day one. I didn't think it would be announced so early but I guess with recruitment it was going to come out at some point so may as well get it done and they can get cracked on ready for next season.

Hull FC • Re: IMG Grading

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

Unless something drastic happens (I mean on a Bradford sort of scale) Hull will remain in the renamed SL for the foreseeable and getting an A or B grade won’t make much material difference. It’s just whether it is your own strength or the relative weakness of others ensuring it - but it is ensured.

Bonaire, IMG are notably not charging fees. They only get ‘paid’ if revenues increase. I much prefer this to private equity investment, which would make me very nervous. What is it that appeals to you about it? Читать дальше...

He probably is naturally a big bloke but no half back should be carrying that amount of weight.

If Hiku has been brought in as FB. Lewis will definitely play in the halfs with May where does that leave Abdul? Maybe put May in at centre with Gildart because Opacic is bang average.

20/30 years ago he could have played the role of a ball playing LF but not in the modern game. Читать дальше...

Looks like the anticipated takeover at Skolars has fallen through, according to an article on Rugby League Hub.

Apparently the realisation Skolars would likely be at the bottom of the IMG rankings prompted a renegotiation on the amount the new owners were willing to pay.

Always felt a bit of left field option in terms of a takeover and not really sure how much real investment the new owners were capable of brining in. Interesting to see if anyone else steps in to takeover. Читать дальше...

Hull FC • IMG Grading

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

Am I right in thinking clubs got their provisional IMG gradings today with 6 super league clubs getting an A grade:

St Helen’s
Wigan
Leeds
Warrington
Catalan
Us?

I genuinely think we’ll just make A and rovers will just miss out right now.

Do any of you with club links know our grade and if it’ll be published? Could be a massive moment for our club. I wonder if getting a B grade would spike a Pearson knee jerk reaction to either invest more or throw toys out of his pram
