Huddersfield Giants • Swift - great signing

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

As a Wire fan, I have to say that I'm amazed Hull let Swift go.
He's a great signing for you.
You can't teach raw pace and even at 30 he's got it in bucket-loads.

I reckon he is one of the very fastest wingers we've got in our game.
He may not have quite the finishing efficiency of Makinson or (this year) Charnley, but he's a damn good winger and I'd have him at Warrington.

Out of curiosity, who funds Sheffield? They have a great side but play on a glorified amateur venue in front of barely 1000 fans.

Not having a go, just a genuine question.

As far as I know they appear to have a big money backer.

The whole thing is crazy in my opinion. Firstly the club gets the 50/50 money in Academy sponsorship. Secondly, at £10.00 a strip, tickets are too expensive. Thirdly, all the prizes were Broncos products, which means that away fans have no interest in buying tickets. Читать дальше...

Can't we just arrange 3 reserve games this week so Vaughan can play against saints? What's good for one and all that.

Wakefield Trinity • Disciplinary

Fines for Gale and Salabio plus a 1 game ban for Gale.

Don't recall the incident where Sam Luckley has been charged with biting. Anyway we've bent over as usual and " opponents don't wish to take the matter any further"
Anything else we can do to help HKR?

If Hull could play competently for more than 2 games in a row we could easly add another couple of thousand on.

Rovers can quite quickly extend their East stand to the try line and get some more in.

I beleive Catalan are looking at a new stand down the side so theres potential for some growth there.

Leeds, Wigan, Saints and Wire all have some room in the stands to keep growing. Cas get a massive following considering the size of the town and the state of the ground.

Maybe GH and RS took the suggestion of if we had 17 players with Donaldson’s attitude a little too literally and are aiming for 17 back rowers?

Nine new signings including five from the NRL.

Only watch out here is the club have been creative in the past with signings experience, we were promised '10 internationals' for 2013 but what they really meant some had warmed a bench in England Knights games or played an international 10 years ago before their legs had gone.

But on the whole promising signs, and if we... Читать дальше...

Leeds Rhinos • Re: In Kieran Hudson

Given what others have said about us not really having any props ready to come through the system yet it’s an understandable depth signing, and I would argue if we’re going to have projects, they should be ones with youth and outstanding physical attributes.

I’m sure fans of every other club would be outraged but rest assured would do exactly the same thing.

What it shows yet again is how flawed and not fit for purpose the system is.

They need to get some fitness into the squad from day 1,none of this build up as the season progresses nonsense.
The club staff should also be working on adding pace and speed to the players which is something else we have been missing.
Put another yard on Martin in pre season and he could be an ideal replacement for Swift

Yes and no, its better for morale and playoff chances to peak later. We want to end 2024 with people keen to buy tickets for 2025. Читать дальше...

I've said before, this whole "there aren't enough players" thing is a self fulfilling prophecy. Every time we shrink our top flight we diminish the popular appeal, we harm players pathways. We should never have dropped from 14 and we are a poorer sport for having done so.

Totally agree, 14 teams should always be the target. It might not be instant but the other two teams will be full time and will bring with them more reach for the professional youth game through academies. Читать дальше...

Wrong. Wire noticed it as part of their post game review and asked the question. Saints got wind of it and decided to use it to their advantage. Wire, whilst querying how it happened, didn't want to play the game. It was too last min and a hiding to nothing.

Laughable to see Saints "celebrating" the win on social. It has about as much credibility as AJ fighting a replacement brought in 2 days out.

I'd love to know where you are getting this from. Читать дальше...

One of the other players Cas have released Kieran Hudson as some potential. He is a prop and i think they signed him from Whitehaven and had big hopes for him. He is recovering from rupturing his achilles last pre season but once fit he could be worth looking at as well as Sutcliffe.

Looks like Hudson will be joining Leeds according to Matt Shaw.

Tanginoa is one of the few super league standard players we have, it’s not a surprise that he is generating interest. Yes he has some deficiencies hence why he’s not still in the NRL, but he is one of the most destructive ball runners around and would kill it next year in the championship. He’s had a bad year with injuries this year but prior to that he has hardly missed a game through injury. He’ll be a loss.

Griffin covers that loss for me. He is destructive and can do 80 minutes. Читать дальше...

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

Yesterday was another depressing experience and today I still don't feel any better!

Now that the season has concluded and the dust has settled I now feel it would be a good step in engaging with the fans to provide some details of how the club is to go forward. We have already signed up to IMG regime. It must have some merit for the club to agreed. I for one would like some assurances on why they signed up for the IMG, and a statement on how the club plan to progress and prosper in the new IMG era. Читать дальше...
