Who I speak to had never heard of Duckie until I mentioned him. They now of course know of him and his posting history. Let's leave it there.

I already know he can read posts on RLfans.
But he’s too close to the club to speak.

Quite. His form didn't merit being picked much earlier in the season, or in previous seasons. It's the same reason he didn't get the contract offer he was hoping for. Читать дальше...

Can someone please enlighten me as to what you are all talking about.
I went to club shop, told them which seats I had reserved last season for son and myself(even though we never sat in them) . Looked at stand grid , agreed which two were mine, paid for them Given copy of block, row and numbers and told would be notified when ready for collection.
Didn't know I had to do anything else.
Are you talking about those who reserved on line?

Bradford Bulls • 2024 Squad and Recruitment

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

Looking at the squad numbers given out at Huddersfield, Fenton has been given no.25 which doesn't exactly seem like a ringing endorsement ahead of the new season.

I'm gutted for the lad if that is the case, especially as he could end up on DR with Dewsbury if not getting game time. Looking at us now compared with last year, no doubt he would certainly boost our front row:

2023 - Lawrence, Scurr, Baldwinson, Rogers, Doro, Matongo, Okoro & Johnson
2024 - Lawrence, Scurr, Baldwinson... Читать дальше...

He definitely isn't a Rovers fan, just a bit misguided, I think Rovers will do slightly worst than last season, lost some good quality in eth backs with Ryan, SKD, Coote/Walker and Schneider, not sure there replacements are better. Two forwards in Linnett and Kennedy replaced by two forwards with injuries problems.

I'd say that May is an upgrade on Schneider, but is very similar to Lewis, so not sure that will work.
Kennedy was a pudding (like a younger Kane Evans)... Читать дальше...

Unless we bring in some quality we are looking like a mid level Championship side. The academy was scrapped to supposedly allow they club to focus on other areas of the ranking criteria. The 2 highest ranking criteria are fandom and performance. We won't pick up many performance points with a sub standard squad and nor will will attract many new fans to the club.

In fairness I would have thought top 5 Championship team. Cant argue with the rest though. Very, very strange. Читать дальше...

I hope they put it to good use

When you read that list I think a lot are underpaid rather than overpaid so shows how well we have done to get this squad under the cap (I understand this is a guess but it equates to the cap limit).

I think that's it - it may be a guess but we know the total adds up to the £2.1 and we can be pretty confident in predicting the higher earners (inc marquee players), mid-earners and lower earners depending on their position in the squad/experience/quality etc. Читать дальше...

Will remain the same whilst the game is dominated by penalty goals and gives you 3 points for a drop goal

Quite right, as they say “it’s not how you start it’s how you finish”, after watching trinity for 70 years I never take them for granted, I’m optimistic we’ll be a top 5 club in the championship, but even then promotion doesn’t happen on the field, the battle for promotion points takes place off field.

I'd narrow that to top three, I'd be a bit disappointed at lower than that. Not in terms of play offs placings or IMG, but for the general momentum at the club, and the feel good factor. Читать дальше...

Had a crack at guessing the salary cap spend across the squad. Might be way off (would welcome any feedback) but if its anywhere close you can see how it's possible to fit in the big hitters of Field, French, Smith and Thompson when utilising the three marquee spots.

Miski 75k
Keighran 75k
Wardle 100k
Marshall 100k
French 150k on marquee

He also said players can only apply for a visa once their contracts come into force so guess that was 1st November? As you say pretty decent to get them here in the time frame and that Brown would be afforded another couple of weeks because of his involvement with New Zealand’s Pacific cup run. I’d expect him to be another couple of weeks but then again, if they’re allowed Christmas and New year back in Oz, he may as well come over afterwards?

Warrington Wolves • Re: Ellis Longstaff

Sounds like he is disillusioned with RL.

When I first saw him play I thought he had a great future in the game.

Lots of natural talent, but he never developed his physique that was necessary for a Super League forward. Whether that was because he wasn`t prepared to do the heavy weights in the gym or he has a natural metabolism that won`t acquire any extra weight as a young man?

Most people fill out as they age, so he could still make it, and a couple of seasons in the Queensland... Читать дальше...

Wakefield Trinity • Powell surprise!

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

Well so far he's proved me wrong.

Firstly, who is this man, friendly, articulate and optimistic? Not what I was expecting at all.

Secondly, and to be honest this impression came from Cas fans, he hasn't filled the team with old Cas players, in fact he hasn't signed many old players at all.

Most surprisingly of all is that he's signed a lot of young players, especially from our youth set up. TBH I didn't think they would get a chance.

I didn't think he'd retain Shaw, Law and Croft. Читать дальше...

I don’t think you quite get the advantage staying full time gets you. The last 5 competitive years in the Championship, the full time team finishes 1st. 100%. If there are two full time teams, they finish 1st and 2nd. 100%. Playoffs are a different matter (see last season…) but basically you’re in a head to head with Toulouse over 1st & 2nd place. All the part time teams will take points off each other fighting for third.

I used to enjoy reading "Reports from the courts" to see if I could spot anyone I knew.

My dear old Grandad would get it to see who had died that week.
