Leeds Rhinos • Re: 2024 Rule Changes

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

Were the Burrow head knocks / concussions caused by high tackles or in defence because of his height, he had to tackle low and thus, took stray knees and hips when tackling as well as getting his head in the wrong position.

I suspect he suffered more head knocks as a defender rather than an attacker. We seem to be encouraging players to tackle lower but in my view, this will increase head knocks not reduce them.

It Makes no difference what the plan is. Hughes killed us between 2009-2013 and has been paying guilt money ever since. We could rip up SL in 2024 and we'd still be a championship side in '25 and we will be back to a few hundred fans with the same or worse IMG grading.

Hughes is full of poop. He's scrapped the academy supposedly to focus on gaining grading points. The side being assembled isn't looking like it's going to gain much more in terms... Читать дальше...

I am pretty content with the squad for next year.
On paper it looks competitive but conscious that results and performances over recent years have made a ass of that statement.
I think we look stronger past squad number 17 with a lot of experience in Bullock, Kassiano, Dudson, Dwyer, Russell and Powell and then Green, Hayes, Thomas etc.

I still have a couple of worries.
A) the past couple of seasons have shown that we are a bit fragile when it comes to things derailing the season. Читать дальше...

Do you expect the club just to be able to bin off all the above players and be able to sign suitable replacements in one off season? Houghton will likely retire at the end of next season, Scott, Brown, Cator and Fash are good squad players and Sao is a very good SL forward. The rebuild will still take at least another year until we will see any real progress imo, we have a great crop of academy players, once they're blended into the team we can hopefully build real quality around them. What you also have to factor in is the deals done by previous regime, Lino, Jowett, Ashurst, Pitts, Gale all , I think, had deals done before Matt and his team took over, I imagine that they will account for a sizeable chunk of the £ 1.3 million

Did Hood get a new contract at start of the season as well My main worry is some of the spine is very slow in parts of it .Pace cost us our S L place last season in the spine when Max was out ,

Wigan Warriors • Re: Safer Rugby League from 2024

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

I can’t help but keep going back to the same question ‘will lowering the tackle height actually make the game safer?’ and I just don’t see that it will. I’m fully behind the fact that ‘change has to happen’ but this move feels to me like a change for changes sake, to just be seen to be doing something and the real time results may well prove to have actually made things worse.

Reduced playing time, concussion spotters, increased sit down times etc are all things we can get behind but this... Читать дальше...

Simply saying fans nees to accept that not only will they be baying for players to go in the bin or off when they deem the tackle is above the legal set limit, they also need to accept that when players they support do the same, they they will get the same treatment and accept it.
Like the rule or not It's what's going to happen.

He definitely doesn't seem concerned with the sunshine or extra money I agree, its probably all about testing himself. I think if Saints offer him marquee money he will have a real decision to make. He will undoubtedly be captain by then too and the player that the club needs to re-build around. I don't think he has a chance of breaking Roby's appearance record which is what Graham suggested may be an aim but I've been told he is a real home bird, exceptionally close to his family etc. Читать дальше...

They’ve announced they’ve passed 5000 season tickets which is some effort. They’re well on the way to gaining an average gate of 6000 per game.

They’re going straight back up aren’t they?

Wakefield Trinity • Re: 2024 Ins-Outs Current Squad

So, according to recent interview the shad is complete bar £100k set aside for a player (likely a middle).

The same interview states 1.3 million is spent. That actually seems like a lot considering what we’ve lost and that we are essentially running with 20 + 5 younger end players only 1/2 year out of academy.

Perhaps the 1.3 includes coaching staff which I envisage costs a lot more than last season.

Still on losing Fifita, Whitbread, Lineham, Lyne, Langi and not really replacing... Читать дальше...

Enjoyed the interview.

I think the NRL bit was very carefully handled by him and by Graham.
