Well I’ll take 2pts but we should face killed that game off. Cas were always going to come out strongly in the 2nd half and we seemed to drop our work rate and the intensity. Not sure why we played Houghton for 60 minutes either.
Some good points but some bad ones too and still much work to do.

Its two points Chris but i think we will have to get used to what we see as seemingly questionable selection decisions by Tony Smith.

Agreed. I can't remember the last time we won in the last minute. Last year in particular, if we were losing with 15 to go you knew that was it.

As Bullseye said, lots to work on though.

On another note Cas on the handicap may be a good bet for Sunday. I’m not saying they’ll beat us but they won’t lose by much.

Judging by the players social media pics, they’re still drinking now. Not back until probably at least tomorrow then 2-3 days to get their body clock sorted and shake the jet lag off and we’ll be lucky to get two training sessions in before Cas.

Better hand the title back. Lose your first game and the season is over with apparently. Читать дальше...

Just got back, to be honest, they didn't look anything special.

I'd need to take a closer look, but looks like Wigan could be copping a couple of bans, one for what looked like a squirrel grab, and the other, the late shot.

We do have issues though, as mentioned that need fixing.

The RFL have downgraded disciplinary issues this year to incorporate more fines and less bans, so knowing our luck both Wigan players will cop for a 50p fine

Halifax Panthers • Re: London's calling next.

I watched last years game at the Shay on youtube last night and was surprised how poor both teams were at times, our defence was much better but when in possession it was littered with a number of knock on's, incorrect play the balls with a low completion rate and we will need to be much better today.

With Olpherts and some of the forwards signed we probably won't need to bother trying to replace either Fusitu'a or Tetevano directly. We definitely need real class in one of the halfback positions and a high quality fullback wouldn't hurt either.

All a bit ridiculous for something that happened in the confines of the pitch to which none of the paying public were able to hear. These lads are playing a sport where serious injury or maiming is only one wrong move away.

Our back 5 pretty much did the ground work, so wonder why our kick chase was laboured on any decent kick we actually did.

Doncaster RLFC • My hope ...

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

As many will know, I have my issues with some elements of Club Doncaster / The Dons ... but ...

During my 40+ years journey following the Blue & Golds I met many good people along the way, some of whom still follow the Club today.

For those long-suffering supporters, I sincerely hope that promotion from League One is finally achieved.

So on that basis, I wish the players and supporters of Doncaster RLFC every success this season.

Both Wigan and HKR were forgettable in that clash ,Wigan desperately need someone who can kick goals as it proved costly .Makes me feel a little easier after watching this game that it isn’t just us who haven’t hit their straps yet .

Last seasons first match against Leeds on the opening weekend was a win in name only.
A knock-a-thon and if Leeds hadn't been down to 12 and been as poor as us in the ball handling department we'd have lost by a score.
An awful first game for C4 to cover.

I thought back then after that match that last season was going to be a long one - and it was.
Worst SL season ever - not just in the finishing position but the lack of quality in the way we played.
Just get shivers thinking about it. Читать дальше...

Blumin heck we are already writing off this season and looking to what we might be able to bring in for next year.
Is this our 8th, 9th or 10th year we are in rebuilding mode?
We had an opportunity to offload Austin but we extended his contract I believe.
We got rid of 2 coaches Sinfield and Agar who looked after their mates only to get another one who looks to be doing the same.
Like others have said a win in our next game and the Wire loss will be forgotten.
A loss in our next 3 might send the alarm bells ringing again. Читать дальше...

Once again Bamford and Harrison are absolutely crap with not many others getting above a 5 out of 10.
Why do we pick Bamford and Harrison is beyond me other than trying to please the more vocal Leeds supporters who still rate them along with Bielsa.
Orta absolutely needed to have a manager nailed on before getting rid of Marshe.
Rutter was not the signing we needed whilst in a relegation scrap anyone can see that.
And one other who tends to escape any criticism is Messlier who for me... Читать дальше...

I'm going for a Dons win by 16.

If we can better that, we'll be sending out a message we're serious candidates to win the league.

Nothing's won or lost after the first game of the season, so we perhaps shouldn't get too carried away one way or the other.

Looking forward to the match.

Halifax Panthers • Re: DR

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

I agree with some points that DR can be a disruption to a team, I also agree that if used properly it can be a great thing. As mentioned we use it to champ 1 for our own use, it could also be as again mentioned above, being used as a ‘ don t get complacent about your place’ to our own players.
How will the nay sayers feel should we use a d r player and they score the winning points in a game? SG will only use a d r if he feels they are better than he has available at that particular time.
As for comments about the board... Читать дальше...
