Now you mention it, what about Liam Kay, good under high ball, more pace than Gaskell ,has played stand off and FB before. Most importantly he has guts and will not pretend to try and tackle.

Not the worst call. With Hood back fit he can be moved without too much disruption as well.

It’s not a BAD draw and I’ll put my money down, but bear in mind we only have about 15 fit players who are old enough to come to the ground without their parents permission. It would not surprise me if we rest a few and remember they are a big old team and no mugs. I’d have preferred one of the many amateur teams. A nice home win would raise supporters morale.

Given the problems we've had with amateur teams in the past, particularly Kells comes to mind, not sure that would be any better. Читать дальше...

It seems you don’t understand what the word “direct” means, as it was not direct contact to the head… it was indirect, due to coming up off the shoulder

Never a ban. Hoping we get far less bans this year than last in general. Last year was a proper farce. And to be fair the disciplinary can’t really afford to go on as they were anyway, Saints drained... Читать дальше...

The cheek indeed, I sincerely hope the next time one of our players is cited for a high tackle its a grade a, no further action but I'm willing to bet that's not how it goes. That tackle by Welby was a bad one and it was deliberately to stop the try, I have absolutely no idea how he stayed on the field at the time and then no ban is truly baffling IMO.

Dwyer was a worse decision-maker than Leeming. Just dig up a few match threads from the last few years - Leeming may have got some stick, but not passing on the last was Dwyer's pet play, along with ignoring a set line with the halfback waiting. Its not good play whoever does it, but Dwyer did that more consistently often, plus his passing was terrible.

Dwyer showed that on Friday when he passed near his own line to nobody, he was lucky Hull were more awake than us

Johnson's not the player he was, as he's lost a lot of speed. He's never been an organiser and tends to drift in and out of games a lot.

Could be a very well timed return for Sao to replace Taylor.

I also really hope that Sutcliffe's knock is nothing too damaging, Sternum injuries can be very awkward, even if minor. If he isnt fit, and with Lane failing his HIA, we could see Sao coming into the second row partnered by Savelio with griffin moving to the centres, which would be a shame given how well he has started the season there.

The Virtual Terrace • Looking back on the SL era

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

Well, I'm biased, but I think it all started to go downhill when it went from 14 to 12 teams, losing the Bradford support & media interest & Leeds derby and losing the London presence at the same time. Not a good day for media sales.
With hindsight, they should have tied the salary cap into the TV rights - if TV rights go up by 20% then the cap should go up by the same. It means the cap would only change every 5 years or so, allows forward planning.
More divisive I think, would have... Читать дальше...

Three Day Millionaire

Unusually for me I watched this on its release date on Netflix, and quickly regretted my decision.

It´s a ´caper´about three ´lads´who decide to rob their boss to save the local fishing industry in Grimsby. The cast is decent but the dialogue and plot are dreadful. Good actors can´t improve a script.

It has a shouty quality that makes you think it was probably initially a stage play and even liberal old me found the over the top swearing a bit too much... Читать дальше...
