Regarding changing the date I'd think it's unlikely. All matches at Plough Lane last season and planned for this season were/are on Sundays with one specific exception. At the end of the football season, the pitch is relaid. Last year Broncos played on the Friday night. Sunday was an AFC Wimbledon fun day and the pitch pulled up on the Monday. Looks similar this year but the Broncos playing on the Saturday.

The Halifax match is in the football season. Читать дальше...

leighs cheapest membership is 300 quid - absolute robbery and disgraceful when daft money is being thrown around for the entertainment opener v salford.

I see that Ben Blackmore is 5th favourite to be Championship top try scorer this year. Not too sure about that but Gill could be worth a punt as he is not anywhere an the list.

Having just read joes interview on loverugbyleague about joining the bulls he does seem a little put out by some of comments made about is departure from fax. Personally i thought simon was spot on with is remarks about joe and maybe if he had pulled is finger out performance wise he would still be a fax player. And as for possible replacements there is plenty of young and talented centres at clubs like huddersfield and leeds that we could surely get on loan at the very least. Читать дальше...

Wigan Warriors • Pricing/marketing

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

Read an article today around season ticket prices in Super League. I noticed that Wigan's cheapest adult season ticket is the most expensive in SL at £295 with Wakefield the second most expensive at £45 pounds less.

Wigan £295 (South Stand)
Catalans £130
Huddersfield £180
Hull £165
Hull KR £240
Leigh (only seem to offer a monthly membership so left them off the list)
Leeds £233 (they also offer an £140 ST in the away end)
Salford £209
St Helens £226
Wakefield £250

The Virtual Terrace • Head Injuries, Progressing or Backwards Steps?

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

As the new season approaches, it’s interesting to see what the RFL do about the head injury protocols. We are already behind what they do in Australia. Our officials make incorrect decisions, infuriating us fans. In the NRL, more ‘report’ calls are made and the injury rules are severe, insisting that any contact with the head is deemed illegal and warrants a sin-binning – look at the Australia v Samoa World Cup Final match. Why are we behind Aussies? Will this always be the case or will the RFL ever... Читать дальше...

I dont think its a case of penny pinching at all. Its the fact Saints have sold him the dream and thats something as a club we are unable to offer right now.
But as I have said before we are not short of wingers and will survive without him. However as a club , i dont think we should allow him to play us along. We should have a grown up conversation . If its the end, put him on the market and at least get compensation.

Huddersfield, despite large % growth in support since being in SL, we all know don't get huge crowds and are totally reliant on Davy's money.

Wigan just seem to be very badly run and have seen declining attendances and apparently interest for a long time now. Their corporate support seems tepid too; it's a minor thing maybe but the revolving door of shirt sponsors, a new one seemingly every other year, suggests to me... Читать дальше...

Wakefield Trinity • Lewis Murphy

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

After reading a column in the league express by Martyn Sadler suggesting that Lewis Murphy is tipped to join st helens,
Due to the fact he has turned down an upgrade to his contract. How do we expect to compete in super league when letting
our better players move on, surely Mr Minnards & Co should at all costs try to keep hold of Lewis (stop penny pinching).

London Broncos • Re: Fax game 20th August

If you want to be near the eating & drinking options of Wimbedon (not a lot of shopping these days) then there is a Travelodge (only just opened) & Premier Inn & you could get the 493 bus to the ground or 20/30 min walk depending on length of your legs.

The nearest hotel is the Pelican London Hotel & Residence (3star & still open as far as i know) on the St Georges Hospital site in Blackshaw Road, which is about 15 min walk to the ground & nearer to Tooting's curry restaurants. Читать дальше...

He may have played 20 games or so sticking his head in the third row of a scrum but I don't think that he played LF.
Playing a prop at LF is normally done to beef up the front row because of concerns on their ability to dominate the forward battle.. By doing so I suspect that it could reduce our attacking threat.

Smithies came on leaps and bounds last season and may yet develop into a fine LF and I hope that 2023 we will see more ball skills from him. Читать дальше...

Covid has clearly had a significant impact on these accounts, however Hudds owing £19m has been down to year in, year out issues and even clubs with a bigger fan base like Wigan seem to report operating losses pretty much every year.

Let’s hope IMG can bring more sponsorship and get more revenue flowing through the sport. I’m not convinced window dressing like changing names will make much difference.
