Leeds Rhinos • Rhinos Defeat the Bulls In Season Warm Up

I was quite happy with how we went. We had about 5 first teamers missing from that squad and played a few fringe players and kids in the second half. Of course we dropped the ball a lot and gave away some daft penalties but compared with last season this is progress, particularly in defence. There is always media hype around Bradford but ask any fan and they'll say that we're a work in progress and some way off being a promotion candidate.

Hull KR • HULL KR BOD

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

I occasionally read other independent RL forums as well as keeping updated on here. Was amazed to read about the new additions to your Board of Directors, You really have some serious investors cum business men on board now. Looks like HKR have some huge finance behind them at the moment and some extremely impressive plans to not only update your stadium and also new builds around the ground as well as serious developments on the ground purchased surrounding the stadium.

I have to say I agree with Phantom as they were the dominent team and everything good came from Dean. He put us under a lot of pressure.

We did get it together in the second half but it's no bonus for us to win on fitness. Sts and Leeds aren't going to run out of steam.

Aside from the program you're paying for and publishing, what do the club run by you?

And you can say "more than they run by you", but this isn't a dig. I'm genuinely asking as reading the forum over the last few months, it sounds like you're down at the club quite often.

Bradford Bulls • Re: Thoughts going into the season

There does seem to be a whiff of enthusiasm and optimism at the moment, let’s hope we don’t come down to earth with a bump on Sunday. The financial side of things seems under control, we’ve heard no whispers of anything to the contrary and the squad assembled looks as good as it has for a while

Could we even tempt a few of the forum members to join www.bullssquadbooster.co.uk and continue the momentum we have with fundraising towards the excellent signings we’ve made and generating more funds for further good recruitment down the line? Читать дальше...

But why? We have one HB and Gaskell and nobody not even Gaskell knows what his position is. There are many more 9's out there than 7's. In our Academy we have an excellent potential future 9 in Jake Camplin, I don't see the equivalent HB.

So my question stands, why would you convert Smith, make zero sense to me?

I didn't say you should convert him. You should play the best team you have, and when Hood is injured and Lino and Gaskell are fit, it leaves Smith as a good option. Читать дальше...

Yeah, it is a real shame especially given how well he had been training in the off-season and the shape he'd got himself in. He is still very young though so he has plenty of time on his side to come back from it.

States that obviously he can't go on forever, he's 79.
Either his sons (or one of them) will take over the club or Mike Danson will.

Mentions other clubs like Hull KR have brought additional money men in as directors to 'share the load' which he believes is the way to go.

Thoughts?

Bradford Bulls • Whitehaven (H)

Quite looking forward to this game. We made hard work of it at the back end of last season so expecting a much better performance this time. Will be interesting to see Dunning's choices at halfback and hooker.

I'd go with Holmes and Lawford at halfback with Lilley at hooker. It's a toss up between Flanagan snr and Roby on the bench.

Bradford Bulls • Thoughts going into the season

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

So how's everyone feeling on the eve of the season? Thoughts on recruitment?

I feel much more content than when Doyle had signed for Keighley. Resigned myself to watching us in a relegation battle at that point. But credit to the management, I don't think we could have asked for a better off-season recruitment. Yes we would all like another prop, winger etc but I think most clubs are in that position. If you'd have told me we'd have signed Walker, Lawrence, Appo, I think we would have all had a good laugh. Читать дальше...

Interesting to see that we are not the only ones running with a trimmed squad this season, although there does seem to be a degree more forethought with the Toulouse set up in comparison to ourselves and staying full-time has necessitated a smaller playing squad. Will be interesting to see how their reserve grade prospects make the step-up when called upon. Greg Richards signed for them over the weekend and appears to be the last 'piece of the puzzle';
